- Sunshine Pawlowski (a year ago):
They have outstanding meats & season them up for you as well. Here is a tomahawk, a filet mignon and a New York steak. They tasted so good!

I’ve always had a good experience here, but today there were two items whose prices did not match their tags. I waited over 10 mins at the register, but in the end, the cashier only said that I had picked up a different item and that the other item had been placed on the wrong sale shelf. Although they offered a return, these were all items I actually needed. Was I supposed to go back and waste even more time finding replacements? I didn’t return them. In the end, nothing was really resolved. It was a frustrating experience.

I often use online ordering. Several times, Cecilia has been my shopper. Cecilia is fabulous! Her communication is first rate, and responsiveness is 5-star. I highly recommend shopping at the Stater Bros’ Rancho Penasquitos location.

Crazy to review a grocery store because some expectations are expected! Cleanliness- immaculate. Presentation of groceries- nailed it. Food freshness-right on. Neat and spacious- tadow. Bathrooms- sanitized, well stocked and clean. I could find my groceries rather than be in aisle confusion.

Love this stater bros! The employees are incredible and the selection is great. Food wise they have what the rest have but the service is what I come back for.

It was a good experience being the first time going. Went in for something specific and found it without any problem. I will visit again and come back with an update.

I’ve been shopping at Stater Bros for more than two decades, starting back in my high school days, and now in my mid-thirties this store has been a steady part of my life. Over the years, I’ve built a kind of familiarity with the people here by exchanging small jokes, chatting briefly about shows or history, and even having them ask me about my family. That’s the kind of personal connection this store prides itself on. They don’t even have self-checkout lanes, because the idea is: the cashiers know their customers. That’s why today’s experience felt so disappointing. A cashier I’d never seen before asked for my ID when I was buying a beer. Fair enough, I thought—I’ll just go to the cashier I know. But to my surprise, they asked me for my ID as well. After more than two decades of shopping here, being known by name and history, this felt jarring. It wasn’t the ID request itself that frustrated me, it was the inconsistency and the contradiction. If Stater Bros wants to stand apart by being “personal,” then moments like this cut directly against that identity. If the store can’t offer a truly personal experience, then why not just install self-checkout lanes like Ralphs or Albertsons? At least then the trade-off would be clear: less personal, but more convenient. Right now, it feels like the worst of both worlds. When a store promises connection but delivers bureaucracy, all that’s left is inconvenience.

they wrongfully blamed me for stealing many things and never had proof of anything i supposedly did "steal" and i tried to walk in and i was in line to pay and they kicked me out while i was TRYING TO PAY vons has a better selection so its okay
